Getting Into The Spirit
Have you ever wondered who comes up with our school’s Spirit Week ideas? Well, that would be the King’s Way Leadership team. They plan out all the days and they get people excited about them. They really try hard to make Spirit Weeks fun for King’s Way staff and for students.
Spirit Weeks are a nice change from our day-to-day outfits. It gives the King’s Way community a fun objective on what to wear or how to act on a certain day. I think that they should be repeated more throughout the year. Spirit Weeks can help students get excited for school and it is also fun to watch all the fun ideas that people come up with. Such as Caden Delemarter. He really goes all out, and it is great to see his awesome outfits.
Caden Delemarter, a sophomore and student on the leadership team, talks about his perspective on Spirit Weeks. Caden says that the majority of the students participate in Spirit Weeks, but there could be more. He also states that the more people that do the Spirit Weeks the better. He also mentions he likes the positive environment surrounding Spirit Weeks and he loves everyone showing their energy when participating. Although Caden has the most wild and crazy outfits, he mentioned that Carter Rossman has some really good fits during spirit week. When asked about what makes him outgoing during Spirit Weeks, “Not holding back.” Caden also stated that he would like a lot more Spirit Weeks, but it is a lot to plan them. If he were to determine the Spirit Weeks and when they were he would say often and he would mix up the themes a lot. Some of his favorite themes were, “Anything but a backpack day” and “BBQ dad day”. It’s always fun to see what Caden comes up with and the positive impact he’s made on King’s Way.
From a teacher’s perspective, Don Roberts shares his opinions about Spirit Weeks. First off, he says that there should be more Spirit Weeks, but they need to mix it up more. Meaning, they need to have more themes. He feels like there is a routine of Spirit Weeks, so he suggests that there should be more ideas.. When dressing up the most, Roberts admits that Mrs. Hart goes “all-out” the most. And speaking of teachers, Mr. Roberts’ favorite Spirit Week day is dress like a teacher day. He finds it funny when students try to dress like him. Overall he enjoys spirit weeks and he would suggest more of them and more themes.
Spirit Weeks are a super fun addition to have at our school. We have teachers and students participating and it is awesome to see everyone’s crazy outfits. The next Spirit Week is currently planned for the week leading up to Prom.
