One of the best ways people can support King’s Way is by volunteering for the King’s Way Auction Action Team. The auction has been a feature at King’s Way for around nineteen years. However, like many other things, it was put on pause because of Covid. The auction started up again last year and is continuing this year with the purpose being to benefit the school with the money it raises. The main way to help is through volunteering. The main job of a volunteer on the auction team is to put together a donation basket for a class, team, or extracurricular group. They can even get donations from businesses in the community that the volunteer is familiar with. These donation baskets will contribute the items that will be available during the auction.

One thing that was highlighted by Renee Aitchison, a chair member on the auction committee, is the impact sports teams can have by creating a donation basket. There are currently five high school sports teams that don’t have a basket. These teams are; football, baseball, softball, cross country, and band. If you are a member of any of these teams, reach out to everybody and start a donation basket! It’s as simple as everybody pitching in a little bit. Atchison said “The donations shouldn’t fall on just one family to take care of, if every family pitched in ten dollars, the donation basket  would provide more than enough items to the auction.” 

The goal of the auction is to raise $550,000. All the money will go directly to the school to be used in different ways. According to the auction website, they plan on increasing excellence and opportunity in  Athletics, Art, and Academics, expanding K-12 STEM education opportunities, creating a variable tuition program to financially support families, enhancing campus safety and security systems, as well as introducing an innovative study program to create new and unique paths to King’s Way education.

This auction has the potential to be monumental for King’s Way. A little effort on your part goes a long way in enhancing the learning experience of you and your peers.
